Trailer tires have a unique job. Trailers exert a different kind of force and stress on tires, which is why they have to be designed differently from vehicle tires. It’s also why tire makers stress that trailer tires are not to be used on light trucks or other vehicles.
That doesn’t mean that all trailer tires are created equal, though. There’s a definite quality gap with the really cheap trailer tires, and of course you need to keep in mind what the trailer is going to be used for (motorcycle? Toy hauler? Boat? Livestock? RV?), since weight, load and speed all need to be kept in mind. The Lexani LXST-105 is one of the better trailer tires we’ve seen, but what is it about this tire that makes it such a standout? Let’s take a closer look in this Lexani LXST-105 review.
Features and Benefits
Lexani tires might not be a household name just yet, but that doesn’t mean they make cheap, mediocre tires. The brand specializes in enthusiast tires, and applies their learning from high-performance driving into all of their tires. As a trailer tire, the LXST-105 receives the same care and attention that all other Lexani tires receive. Here are some of the key benefits to this trailer tire:
- Lower rolling resistance for improved fuel economy
- Rubber compound is designed for long, even wear and resistance to ozone and UV radiation for trailers that are parked outside for long periods
- Circumferential grooves divert water away from the tire’s contact patch for resistance to hydroplaning
- Continuous center ribs designed for straight-line stability and tracking
- Compliant with all DOT specs
Pros and Cons
So, is this tire the right choice for your trailer and budget? Let’s take a look at its strengths:
PROS:
- Good choice for light and medium duty trailers
- Durable
- Year-round traction
- Affordable
- DOT approved
CONS:
- Not designed for vehicle use
- Might not handle as well as some competitor’s tires
SimpleTire’s view on Lexani LXST-105 tires
Just because trailer tires tend to be less expensive, that doesn’t mean you should skimp on quality and performance. The LXST-105 from Lexani is a great example of a quality tire for special trailer service. It’s easy to tow with low rolling resistance that saves on fuel, the center ribs provide stability with minimal trailer sway and wander, and the deep grooves direct water away from the tire’s contact patch to avoid hydroplaning. For car haulers, boat trailers, livestock or equipment trailers, the Lexani LXST-105 is a great choice.

Got these for a 16' flatbed car trailer and they appear to be as good as anything I could find locally and would not have any reservation of getting them again. Not sure how long they will last but the previous set was the OEM 6 ply tires and, since this particular trailer is lightly used, had been on there for seven years so I assume these will also be a long life tire for the amount of miles I put on trailer. The customer service that I have received from Simpletire has always been excellent and if you do your own tire work like I do, you probably won't find any better deals or customer service than Simpletire.
These are trailer tires so tread life, durability and wear are the major concerns and these tires for the price are a good value in my opinion.
Great tires and price
I gave five stars for all categories as these are trailer tires and just go them along with it being a low mileage trailer they look and seem to be as good as the oem tires that were on it that have seven years on them. I changed them only due to the age even though there was no evidence of cracking and such. I ordered four of them and only received three. I made a few calls to fedex and then simple tire. Fedex was not able to find the missing tire and after a few phone calls with simple tire they over nighted me a replacement tire. And that is excellent world class customer service. I explained the need for the tires to be installed to get the trailer ready to use in the next day or so was very important.
