Kept me safe, but a lot of compromises
For what I paid, I suppose I got all I should have expected. But, I am disappointed, having hoped for better from Hankook. I gave snow traction a 4, even though when new, they are a solid 5. I gave treadwear a 3, even though the tread block wears at a very reasonable rate for a snow tire. Both of these ratings come from what I consider a poor design. Most of the siping is quite shallow, so after a small amount of the total depth wears away, most of the siping is gone, and much of its snow traction with it. I gave noise a 4, because for snow tires, they're not at all bad, though definitely audible. I gave comfort a 3 because they're not round. Some of them aren't even close. This makes them hoppy, even when balanced, and since the high spots wear more quickly, they go out of balance as they wear. I have rebalanced them twice, in a very moderate amount of wear, and they were ounces out each time. I shouldn't have to rebalance tires every month just to stop them from hopping all over the highway. I would only buy these tires again if they were very, very cheap. Even at the somewhat discounted price I paid, they don't last long enough, and require too much fussing to keep calm.
Better than an AT, but an inferior WT
This Hankook looks like a serious dedicated winter tires, but from experience looks are deceiving and it feels more like a very good All-Terrain tire rather than a dedicated Winter Tire. I blame this on a stiffer rubber compound than competitors like Blizzaks, so the upside is these RW11s have better wear and a longer life, but they don't perform as well, specifically on ice. The stiping compensates for the stiffer rubber well in powder or packed snow, but where this tire falters is on ice, on ice it feels like a very good AT, it's acceptable, but not excellent like my Blizzaks. Also, I find this tire does worse with slush or deep water compared to Blizzaks, but it's not as significant a gap as the ice. For someone with intermittent winters these are a great option because you won't chew them up so bad on pavement days, but if you're reliably driving on snowy roads for weeks at a time there are much better options.
Great Snow Tire, love the design.
I get up on a weekday morning and look out the window, and it's snowing. I grin and say to myself BRING-IT! for I have the Hankook IPIKE RW11's studded and ready for action. Love the peace of mind.
So far they have been a good tire that handle well
Loved performance of the tires. Will buy again,
Previous tires before this purchase had several negative issues. I bought these last tires due to those issues and resolved the problems that irritated me such as: road noise, hard ride, and quality. I was very pleased with the performance and quality since changing out to tires bought from Simple Tire. Will buy again when needed for both of our vehicles. Thank you standing behind your product and delivering what was actually viewed on line.
Great tires!!! Definitely worth the money
Love these tires, will buy them again
These tires are great for the snow. It is a smooth ride and the tires are not noisy. Greatly recommend.
I only have a thousand miles on these tires as of yet so I don't have treadwear to report yet. However, in snow these tires are amazing. I debated studding them, but I'm glad I didn't waste the money they work awesome without studs. I drive an old pickup and usually in the winter it's hard to keep forward momentum up snowy icy hills. With these tires I have no problem climbing hills that I would normally need 4 wheel drive for. I will be purchasing these tires for my wife's vehicle as well.
The tires are incredible! Not noisy, great on dry and wet roads. Great in the snow! They were a great price! I am super happy!
