    Features and Benefits

All-terrain tires are optimized for superior highway control and grip and dependable off-road traction. Whether you are cruising on paved roads or driving in rough conditions, these tires provide you with optimum control and grip to tackle conditions like dirt, sand, gravel, rocks, and light mud. These tires are stronger and more durable compared to standard all-season tires used only on paved roads, and have the ability to resist off-road impacts.

The Wrangler AT/S has these abilities too and offers a top-tier driving experience in both highway and rugged conditions. Let’s take a look at the tire’s features and benefits to understand its true abilities:

    • Superior off-road traction – The Wrangler AT/S is designed and engineered for superior off-road traction and comes with a wraparound shoulder design that enhances off-road traction. There are wide lateral grooves that improve the tire’s ability to maintain traction in off-road conditions. The extended shoulders improve traction in mud, dirt, sand, and gravel, and the sharper block edges increase grip in rocky terrains.
    • Excellent all-season service – The tire is also optimized to serve year-round in dry, wet, and light snow conditions, thanks to its all-season rubber compound and optimized tread pattern that adapts to varying weather conditions. The deep and wide lateral grooves ensure exceptional snow biting ability.
    • Outstanding on- and off-road handling – The wider footprint of the Wrangler AT/S promotes consistent stability on- and off-road, while the extended shoulders ensure better command over the surface in rugged conditions and while cornering. Special mention to the tough rubber compound that ensures smooth manoeuvring in off-road conditions.
    • Exceptional durability – Goodyear maintains its supremacy when it comes to durability standards. The same is applicable to the Wrangler AT/S, which comes with a tough rubber compound and reinforced inner casing that optimally resists impacts in off-road conditions.
    • Self-cleaning pattern – This tire also features self-cleaning Dual Traction Lug Channels that force mud, water, and snow out of the contact patch for superior traction performance.
    • Long-lasting tread life – The footprint and overall pattern design of the tire is also engineered to promote a longer service life by maintaining even wear.

The Wrangler AT/S is available in 16- and 17-inch rim sizes, and its available sizes include:

    Pros and Cons

Having covered all the features and benefits of the Wrangler AT/S, let’s now take a look at its positives and negatives to help you make an informed decision.

    PROS:

    • The tire is more affordable than many of its top-tier competitors
    • Offers outstanding traction and superior grip in mild off-road conditions
    • Better handling performance on- and off-road
    • Better tread life than some of its high-end rivals
    • Comes in an aggressive and stylish look to complement the styling of utility vehicles and pickup trucks
    • Specially optimized for self-cleaning for improved traction and grip on wet roads
    • Tread pattern and compound offer great service in dry, wet, and light snow conditions

    CONS:

    • Not the best choice for use in deep mud and extreme off-road environments
    • Could be noisy on the roads when compared to some of its peers
    • Not suitable for use in moderate to severe winter weather, as it is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certified

SimpleTire’s view on Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires

If you are looking for a top-class all-terrain tire without breaking the bank, check out the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S (more affordable than many of its competitors). It scores an excellent 9.3 out of 10 SimpleScore in traction, assuring superior traction and grip on- and off-road. In handling, it is rated a higher 9.0 and has the ability to let you confidently maneuver on- and off-road. On the longevity front, too, the tire is rated an 8.0, which indicates its decent tread life. While it misses the tread life warranty, it is strong and durable to offer a good number of miles in its lifetime.

The looks are aggressive, and the Wrangler AT/S would certainly match the personality of your utility vehicle or light truck. Likewise, it is optimally tuned for self-cleaning to boost off-roading ability. The all-season rubber compound of this tire is engineered for solid traction and grip in dry, wet, and light winter weather.

That being said, the tire is not suitable for use in moderate to severe winter weather as it is not Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certified. It could be noisier than some of its peers and might not be the best performer in deep mud and extreme off-road conditions.

The Wrangler AT/S competes with all-terrain tires like:

I bought the tires for my Toyota forerunner, these tires were bought for two reason. First being the price, of course great price on these. Second being the look in stance that made my truck look really nice. It was a bonus, knowing that the handling was better and the stance was nicer than I thought they would be and overall I'm happy.

I chose these tires for a couple reasons. The most important reason in today's economy was the price. Second reason was my commute is not long so I figured I would want a stylish looking tire to make my late model Toyota forerunner look better. So cosmetically the tires made the truck look nicer. Yes, didn't really hear much road noise with the tires nor do I really care. However extremely impressed about the height change and the handling. I feel my truck handles better now with the bigger tire. I am extremely happy with the purchase. This company was easy to navigate on their website and super easy to pay for to have my tire shipped. Will definitely be back.

I was pleasantly surprised how quiet this set of all terrain tires were! Yes, I can hear them, but 5 being noisiest, I give 'em a two. My truck rides great, and I know I'm already prepared for winter, though it's still five months out.

After using a set of these I think they are some of the best tires ever. They ride so smoothly and do great in bad snow and in emergency stops.

These tires have really been a good match for my 2006 Ford Expedition 4x4. I recently purchased all 4 after running that set of Goodyear Wrangler AT/S for 10 years putting some where around 65,000~70,000 miles of those miles 90% were accumulated in town or two lane county roads. I had to purchase just 1 this time because a lady ran a stop sign and hit the passenger side front fender and ruined that tire. These tires out perform the Continental tires that the SUV came with stock from the factory. We don't get a large a snow here in the South but when we do have winter weather it's usually ice and snow. These tires do a very good job keeping traction in this type of weather. They also grip the road very well when it rains.
