I ordered the first set of 4 Firestone WinterForce tires for the vehicle that is only used for plowing snow. I took them to a local shop and had studs put in all of them. I then mounted them on the rims and onto the vehicle myself. I was really anxious for that first big snow to see how they would preform for me. I was actually blown away how they did pushing a full blade of wet snow UP a steep hill ( my driveway 1000ft long ) totally impressed with them in every condition, even on the ice. I felt so good about these tires I ordered another set of 4 for my AWD GMC Terrain. I bought a spare set of rims to mount them on so I only run them in the winter months. I really can't comment on the wear ability of the tread, cause I mainly only go back and forth to work in it. BUT I will say NEVER ONCE was I stuck or afraid I might not be able to get where I was going with these tires. They are very reasonably priced and do a EXCELLENT job. The only con I see with these tires is THEY ARE A DIRECTIONAL TREAD tire, but marking them before dismounting should not be a problem when it comes time for a tire rotation,or remounting them the next season. Im not sure if this exact tire is still available, I think it is possibly called a winterforce II . I do know I would NOT hesitate to purchase more of these tires if I need new tires.
Great for snow and ice
The original Firestone Winterforce studded tires with the stepped directional tread are the best snow/ice tires ever made. Too bad they discontinued them, and replaced them with the a Firestone Winterforce 2. I wouldn't run the Winterforce 2 if they were given to me for free. It's too bad, Firestone had a home run with the original WF. The WF2 are quieter that's all. Hey are terrible in snow, and not good on ice either compared to the original WF. I'm not sure what I'll go with after this original WF set of 4 wears out. The vehicle they are on is a 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5 6-speed manual.
So far off road, rain and dry road they are great! A little noisy, but expected with aggressive tread. Can't wait for snow and ice to try these in their made for environment!
Lowest price around for winter tires, smooth buying experience.
Basically turned my impala into a 4x4 truck .. tackles the snow
This is the 5th set of these I've had (on various cars over the years). I simply love them, Ice traction is quite good, snow, and deep snow traction is exceptional- and deep slush traction is so superior to any other tire I've used.
Put these on my sisters 2000 s10 2wd just before we got snow....she has a 1400ft rough driveway and country roads drive to work..she is in love with theses tires! Buy with confidence with this snow tire!
I live in North Idaho and let me tell you these tires are in my book the best I've ever had. I have had these tires for 10 seasons and still going strong although the studs are pretty much sheered off but they still handle amazing in the snow and decent tread left. I ride on them 3-4 months out of the year and are worth every penny. Get these studded and feel comfortable getting around through the ice, slush and snow with ease. Believe it or not there was a time when I used to have to force my car to slide for fun!
Get technical:
The Firestone Winterforce is winter performance tire specially designed for drivers who are looking for traditional wintertime traction on both dry, wet, snow, and slush covered road surfaces. Ideal for coupes, sedans, and minivans, the Firestone Winterforce features an aggressive directional tread pattern with siped tread blocks to give you that excellent traction required during challenging weather conditions. For better contact with the road in loose snow are the independent tread blocks that feature high-density siping. On hard-packed snow and ice, the intermediate and shoulder tread blocks just enhance the performance of the tires even more. The internal structure features twin steel belts with polyester casing which offer a combination of durability and high performance.
